In my opinion, the term „Beautiful diversity“ is the expression of who we are. We´re living in a society that is created from personalities that think, live and see things in a different way. I think that our differences shouldn´t be something what divides us, but we should take it like something what remindes us how important and amazing is the presence of every single person on this earth. The way to live the „beautiful“ diversity is to respect each other and try to understand, to listen with our hearts open, because that´s how we can learn a lot not only about the others, but also about life and about ourselves.
I was always fascinated by diversity, that´s why I decided to do a research with people from different countries and backrounds. The purpose of this research is to highlight the importance of individual´s authenticity and personal values. Every single person acting according to his/her personal values does influence the society in which we´re living, if she/he realises it or not. It took a while for me to understand what Gandhi wanted to say with: „BE the change you wish to see in the world“ ( and there are definitely milion aspects of this sentence that I still need to understand).
Sometimes we want to change things, people and situations around us, but we´re not looking at ourselves and at what we speak to this world with our own lifes. We´re complaining about the society, but we are the ones who are creating it. We cannot influence many things and circumstances, but we can work with what we have.
To change ourselves first. Because the real change comes from inside, not from outside.
That´s my personal opinion, you don´t need to agree with me. But if you stopted for a second and thought about how you live and what are your personal values, this „project“ has been successful.
#1 Humbleness
The first part of „Beautiful diversity“ was recorded in the youth centre Marttinen, near a little town Virrat in Finlad. I spent there the whole November and took part on a short term EVS - European voluntary service. We (the group of volunteer from 6 countries) were creating non-formal workshops in youth centres and schools and were sharing internationality (and doing many many different things :D .. if you´re interested in volunteering, definitely have a look at this website: https://europa.eu/youth/eu/article/46/73_en)
The first value that I was asking about was humbleness. The way I see humbleness changed a lot in last years and I was very curious about how people from different backrounds with different mentalities define it. I thought that humbleness is something really boring few years ago. I always imagined a person that couldn´t speak up for her/himself and didn´t have ambitions to achieve something.. but I learned that actually .. not at all. I thank God that He sent situations in my life to teach me to be more humble, because my perspective of seeing thing changed a lot. I realise that humbleness is the basis, the truth about who we are.
It was really interesting to hear the different perspectives of humbleness.
And what does it mean for you to be humble? Let me know, I would love to hear your opinion! Have a great day. ;)
